I have always loved the view of the Three Sisters from Canmore, and after several studies of the different peaks, I was finally ready to tackle the subject in a large scale work. What I loved about this scene is the setting sun hitting the tops of the mountains and highlighting the focal point of the painting. Everything else in the foreground is lit softly and gives a sense of calm. It’s the perfect evening to spend on the bank of the smoothly flowing river.
